Zoos and Circus

If you like looking at animals and petting a few, Hungary has many zoos to offer. There are many wildlife parks all over the country that you can visit with your friends and family where you can find various animals and enjoy different shows featuring them.

You will also find a circus in the heart of Budapest, where many attractions await those who are curious.

Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden

Budapest Zoo, located in City Park at the centre of the capital, is Hungary’s oldest wildlife park. Inside the zoo, you can check out more than a 1000 different species, including such exotic ones as the Komodo dragon or the wombat.

With an official city card (Budapest card) or Hungary card you can get a 25% discount on the tickets.

Here you can also hop on the remaining rides of the now closed Budapest Amusement Park.

Address: Budapest, Állatkerti krt. 6-12, 1146

Margaret Island Mini Zoo

Situated in the middle of Margaret Island, the mini zoo is a small park you can enter for free and look at various animals living together, including house rabbits, peacocks, ducks, storks and more. Most animals there were injured and in need of human care, so they were brought to the mini zoo to recover.

They also have small ponies, so children can ride around on them with a guide.

Capital Circus of Budapest

The circus is situated inside City Park next to Budapest Zoo. It is home to a variety of attractions including animal, clown and artistic numbers. The circus is open all year round, so be sure to check it out at least once while you are here.
