Parks and Streets to stroll

Located not far from the city centre, City Park is full of activites to enjoy. The beautiful greenery provides a nice view for a stroll or a picnic during the day.

City Park is also a home to various museum, such as, the Museum of Fine Arts and the National Gallery on Heroes Square, and you will find the Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden and Vajdahunyad Castle here. 

If you want to take your dog for a walk, City Park has a solution for you.vBuilt in 2018, the Dog Adventure Park is the largest and most well-equipped dog park in the city. It has various obstacles, a tap for fresh water and bins with waste bags. A must visit location for dog owners.

Margaret Island is located on the River Danube between Buda and Pest. You can access the island by tram or bus quite easily.

The Island is a quite popular location for many reasons. Its stunning trees and wildlife are excellent for a relaxing walk, reading or a get together with friends. The running track around the island and the sports centre in the middle are frequented by many sports-lovers and professionals. And if you are interested in getting closer to the animals, the Mini Zoo is the place for you on the island. 

The park is huge with lots to see, so be sure to bring enough water and snack!

Found in the 8^th district of Budapest, Orczy Garden is a beautiful garden giving you various opportunities to spend the day.

The garden is full of pathways you can walk along and look at various flowers, trees and pond inside.

Apart from the greenery, Orczy Garden has a running track and sports courses for basketball and soccer. 

Budapest’s first botanical garden is located in the 8^th district run by ELTE. 

The garden has many wonders from the Victoria house to collection of cactus, orchidea and the more than 150 years old maidenhair trees.

Inside there are almost 8000 different species of plants, out of which 150 are protected plants of the Hungarian flora.

Váci Street is one of the most famous shopping streets in Budapest. Here you will find numerous outlets, cafés and restaurants. 

The street runs between the Great Market Hall and Vörösmarty Square, which gives it a nice length for an evening stroll. 

Apart from the modern shops, you will see the beautiful and old-fashioned buildings they are housed in, that has been here for centuries, as the street was part of the 1873 town planning program of Budapest.

Gül Baba Street is one of the last streets of Buda remaining from medieval times and paved with cobblestone.

Going up from the riverside you will reach the tomb of Gül Baba, who this street was named after, and his rosegarden. The garden has been a  popular romantic location ever since the XV century. Some even say Gül Baba was the one who introduced these beautiful flowers to Hungary. 

This quite steep street is a famous strollling path among locals and tourists both. 

Pozsonyi Avenue, located in the 13^th district parallel to River Danube, is a perfect spot to spend the whole afternoon. 

The avenue itself is full of trees, flowers and small shops. If you want to sit down there are plenty of benches all around the avenue, or if you want be ‘farther’ away from the busy city, enter Szent István Park. Here you will find a playground, some sports courses and a beautiful garden.

Pozsonyi Avenue is also a home to various restaurants, such as, Kiskakukk Restaurant and Pozsonyi Vendéglő. Furthermore, every year Pozsonyi picnic, the district’s own cultural festival, is held here.
